This site has been made for pilots and non-pilot outdoor adventurers looking to enjoy the public use cabin system, which is a unique treasure in Alaska. If we do not use the cabins we will lose them!
This cabin is no longer available and was damaged by weather with no intentions of repair. This page serves as a historical record of the cabin and the state it was found in 2012.
The photos on this page are representative of the state it was found in 2012 by Tom Bass. According to Tom, “This is a good example of a nice little cabin and some damage occurs which gives the Forest service a reason to abandon the cabin. The Ketchikan Craig and Sitka Forest Service district seem to have a plan to remove the cabins as soon as anything goes wrong with a building. If this keeps up we will lose a third of the cabins in the next ten years.”
