Public Lake Cabins of Alaska

Doroshin Bay Cabin

Book Cabin

This older cabin is located on a large piece of water which can induce rough water for airplanes. The river delta to the west may provide better protection for tying up the airplane overnight. This location is a frequent fishing spot and can often have a small population of people on the shore.

Facilities:

Doroshin Bay Cabin is a historic 14′ x 16′ log cabin built around the turn of the century for use as a mining cabin and later used by early trappers and hunters. Located on the eastern shore of Skilak Lake overlooking Doroshin Bay, this cabin offers seclusion, hunting, sightseeing, wildlife viewing, and fishing. The cabin contains one bunk bed, a table with benches, countertop for food preparation, wood stove, splitting maul, crosscut saw, broom, shovel, fire extinguisher, an established campfire ring, and an outhouse. In the winter there is cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snow machining. Contact the Refuge Headquarters (907-262-7021) for snow machine regulations. Access to the cabin is by boat, float plane, ski plane, skiing, and snow machine.
