This site has been made for pilots and non-pilot outdoor adventurers looking to enjoy the public use cabin system, which is a unique treasure in Alaska. If we do not use the cabins we will lose them!
This cabin is located on a lake known for great fishing, and is close to salt water. The cabin is standard, with no covered deck but a skylight in doors.
Facilities:
The 12×12-ft. (pan-abode style) log cabin accommodates 6 people with 2 single and 2 double bunks. Other amenities include a table and benches, a cooking counter, food storage, broom and dustpan. An oil stove is provided for heat. An outhouse is located near the cabin. Drinking water is not available at the cabin. Visitors must bring their own water supply, but water is also available from the lake and nearby creeks.
Directions:
The cabin is located at the west end of Orchard Lake on the north end of Revillagigedo Island. It is accessible by floatplane or boat and is about 35 air miles from Ketchikan. If accessed by boat there is a 1 mile hike from the Shrimp Bay trailhead to the Plenty Cutthroat cabin. Refer To: USGS map Ketchikan D5, D4
