This site has been made for pilots and non-pilot outdoor adventurers looking to enjoy the public use cabin system, which is a unique treasure in Alaska. If we do not use the cabins we will lose them!
This is not a cabin, but instead a covered shelter located close to Shelokum Hotsprings. In 2012 Tom was unable to bring his airplane down the stream, so he parked 0.5 miles away on the sound side of the stream entrance. There is a trail on the south side of the lake that leads to the bay, which gives boat access to the site. The trail was notated as muddy, with some reports of bug activity.
Facilities:
Covered Shelter. None. Bring your own firewood, none available.
Directions:
Located 50 air miles north of Ketchikan at the west inlet to Lake Shelokum on Shelokum Lake Trail.
